Psalm 90:8 (ESV) 8 You have set our iniquities before you,
our secret sins in the light of your presence.
This blog is a weekly chronicle of my personal time with God as well as a ministry communication tool as I strive to "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness" according to Matthew 6:33.
In March of 2012 I began a habit of meeting with God each morning for prayer and study of His Word...join me in daily surrender to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Why Follow?
Let me be an encouragement to you that you may see there is joy in surrendering your time to the Lord. Join me in spending the first part of your day with our Savior! I recommend journaling and meditating on what you see in the Word...Follow @dailysurrender

See Me For Who "I Am" (part 2)
Today's Reading: Psalm 90:3-7 (this link takes you to ESV bible online and it can read the text to you if you like)
Comments: See Part 1 for the complete outline on the Psalm.
Psalm 90:3–7 (ESV) 3 You return man to dust
and say, “Return, O children of man!”
4 For a thousand years in your sight
are but as yesterday when it is past,
or as a watch in the night.
5 You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream,
like grass that is renewed in the morning:
6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it fades and withers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.

So Israel has been at the base of mount Sinai for about a year now…
From the ESV Study Bible-
Israel Strikes Camp at Sinai. The people of Israel have been at Sinai for almost a full year (see Ex. 19:1). Israel now leaves Sinai to begin its journey to the Promised Land under the guidance and direction of the shekinah glory (i.e., the dwelling glory cloud). This text describes the striking of the Israelite camp and the order of march of the tribes. | |

Numbers 10:1–2 (ESV)10 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Make two silver trumpets. Of hammered work you shall make them, and you shall use them for summoning the congregation and for breaking camp. |

How to Build a Tabernacle: Part 2
Today's Reading: Exodus 35
Today is part 2 of a study on Exodus Chapter 35. See yesterday's post for more information about this chapter study approach and the questions I started with- but this post lays out the first days study to answer the questions that came out of part 1. The study for question 1, 2, and 12 are begun below but are not complete. I am unsure how to post these as I continue the study so that there is not a bunch of duplicate reading but we'll see...

I Love You Fiercely
Today's Reading: Genesis 29-30, Luke 12
Luke 12:4-7
4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Be as The Worm on The Hook
Today's Reading: Genesis 12-14, Luke 5
Luke 5:2-11
and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon 's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 And Simon answered, “ Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. 7 They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “ Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

Tremble at my word
Philippians 2:12-13
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Personalize it, Pray it Methods:
Jeff- Apart from your pastor or any mentor, wholly on your own, I call you to labor and focus on your sanctification. With holy fear, with the highest respect, with the understanding that you are a sinful man in my holy and glorious presence, you are to humbly work at obedience to me- at absolute surrender of all that you are. Don't you know that it is me, the great I am, who performs this work of sanctification in you? You work out your sanctification in action but know that it is I who grant you both the desire and then also the ability to take action on that desire. The entire process of your salvation and sanctification is orchestrated by me. I do this work in you because it brings me great pleasure and satisfaction to see you progress in your journey of absolute surrender to me. See what is written in Isaiah 66...
Isaiah 66:1-2
1 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? 2 All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.
Jeff- There is no building or mountaintop or anything else under all of my creation where I desire to dwell more than in the heart of the believer who is humble and contrite before me and is fearfully captivated by my word. The one who faces the depravity of his condition and is broken before me. The one who digests my word as it were his sustenance. The one who understands the gravity of my word and that it must cause action...my word is no novel written for your comfort or pleasure. My word will destroy your preconceptions, my word will expose your sinful ways, my word will eradicate your errant thoughts and beliefs, my word will destroy strongholds in your life, my word is the most powerful thing you can ever experience. Did you hear me Jeff? My word is the most powerful force that may be experienced by anything that is or is not yet. Did you hear me Jeff? My word has all power and authority over everything in existence...and even over that which I have not yet created, as it is by my word that I choose to bring it into existence- solely and completely for my own good pleasure. Jeff, if my word does not make you tremble, then you do not yet understand what it is that you are reading. Oh that you would surrender. Why do you not hold my word in your heart as the most treasured thing you can possess? Jeff, what shall you read...with whom will you seek counsel...who among my creation can direct you or teach you as I can?
Application:
Today I am to fearfully labor at my surrender to the Lord.
Today I am to praise God for granting me the will and the ability to surrender
Today I am to hide His word in my heart as it is the most powerful thing I could ever experience
Today I am to value my study and application of His word over every other way I might seek Him
Prayer:
Lord God please forgive me for not recognizing what you have given me in your word. May I never forget what power you have given over to me for my sanctification. Forgive me for not memorizing your word and for not fearfully applying it in my life. Please give me both the will and the ability to take action on surrendering my mind to you. Please draw me into your word and cause me to value it for what it really is.
Lord please work in me today as I walk, work in me today as I work, work in me today as I lead my family, work in me today as I am a friend, work in me today as I serve, Lord please continue your sanctifying work in me today. Let me not get in the way.
In Jesus name I pray, amen.
