Today's Reading: Exodus 35
Comments:
So today I posted the study into question number 3. Please see part 1 for a full description of this chapter study of Exodus 35.
Study:
3. Why using this method?
1. Is there significance to them bringing free will offerings of the goods or the use of personal items rather than trading or buying the things needed?
Jeff- see that there are a few things being stated in this free-will offering that you see in Exodus 35.
- You see that I desire my bride to choose me and I do not force myself upon you
- You see that My Son came freely of His own will and is again a more perfect sacrifice than any other in this willingness
- You see a picture for evangelism that does not include you convincing the mind from the outside but my Spirit doing a work in the mind and spirit of the lost.
- See that the people cannot buy the goods or come with another person's faith...they must come of themselves. None are atoned due to another's faith. Each must chose my Son as their high priest.
As you know, Jeff I do not desire to take away free will in our relationship any more than you want your wife to love you for duty or by some exterior irresistible force. So see that atonement for sin and justification will not come by anything but a heart transformation. One cannot simply place something on the alter or make a verbal confession, or have an emotional experience. Rather, I require a conscious choice and a heart commitment to trust in me and this will move the person to action.
My Son despised the shame and hated the thought of the cross Jeff, and yet He made the choice to go of His free will…
Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Matthew 26:39 (ESV)39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
Matthew 26:42 (ESV)42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”
Mark 14:36 (ESV)36 And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
Luke 22:42–44 (ESV)42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
See His example and know that you too can lay down your life and chose to willingly choose to surrender.
In evangelism Jeff, know that you should not seek to argue or convince some body's mind of my truth Jeff, but rather show them my love and allow my Spirit to do a work from within where I will touch their spirit and move them willingly to surrender to me. You are still required in this work Jeff, but I will be using you to gain the occasion to give them understanding of what happens in their heart. They need you to make sense of the mystery unfolding within them. This is your service Jeff, that you be witness to how I have worked in you and they now relate to this as I work in them. See that this is not an attack and a convincing, but rather a witness.
Application and Prayer:
- Today I will know that my savior chose to endure the cross and separation from the Father of His own will and it was to reconcile me to Himself.
- Today I will celebrate the I have a love relationship with my God and He allows me free will in order to experience His love to the fullest.
- Today I will remember that I cannot argue anyone into the kingdom but I need to trust that God will do the work of salvation and I simply need to bear witness to what you are doing in me Lord.
Thank you for your Word and thank you for being active in my life Lord. Please let me walk today with these truths in mind and allow me to be witness to your love. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
Soli Deo Gloria!
